Cabrillo-San Pedro-Wilmington Harbors offer many activities within walking distance including the Maritime Museum, housed in the old Ferry Building.  I can remember a "very little kid" thinking that going across on the ferry was one of the neatest things in the whole world.

San Pedro welcomes the USS Iowa (BB-61) to her new home.  The USS Iowa (BB-61) is now open to the public at Berth 87 located at 1st St. and Harbor Blvd., San Pedro, CA 90731.
Hours:

  • The USS Iowa is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM except on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  • September through May: 1000 to 1700 hours (10:00 AM to 5:00 PM) with the last ticket sold at 1600 hours (4:00 PM).
  • June through August: 0900 to 1700 hours (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) with the last ticket sold at 1600 hours (4:00 PM).

April 11-13 40th Long Beach Grand Prix - By far the biggest event is the Long Beach Grand Prix in  Many guest boaters use their boat as a hotel for this event and reservations for guest moorings are a necessity. Special access is always provided for boaters so they may go in and out of the marina during this street racing event. In spite of this advantage, many other boat owners choose this week skiing!

September 12, 13 & 14 The Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival
The World's largest lobster festival, the Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival features fresh discount Maine lobster meals and plenty of entertainment. Lobster lovers enjoy a scenic outdoor park and shops at Ports O' Call in San Pedro, California. After feasting on world famous lobster meals, guests enjoy dancing, parades, street performers, a pirate camp, tall ships, shopping for arts and crafts, and musical performances by some of today�s best up-and-coming acts and tribute bands.

Dec 6 52nd Annual LA Harbor Holiday Afloat (boat) Parade, 6:00pm - 9:00pm.  Vessels of all shapes and sizes will participate, including tugboats, powerboats, sailboats and dinghies.

The parade starts in the East Basin and travels through Los Angeles Harbor, taking approximately 90 minutes to motor the entire parade route. Spectators may view the procession from several points alont the Port's Main Channel, including Cerritos Channel marinas and Banning's Landing Community Center in Wilmington, the L.A. Maritime Museum, Ports O' Call Village, 22nd Street Landing and Cabrillo Marina. Viewers are invited to enjoy the parade from the Cruise Ship Promenade at Harbor Boulevard and Swinford Street.
